| Job Description | Application Packager (Citrix, Wise Package) Belfast Our international client is looking to recruit an Application Packager to join their existing team in Belfast.
The primary purpose of the role is to package PC based software for distribution globally. This involves the support for system assets within the company and to undertake the detailed analysis, procurement, configuration, packaging, testing, and implementation of new and existing PC-based software and enhancements to existing systems globally. The role involves: - The team is responsible for the development of a common workstation & Citrix-operating system environment and the configuration of all end user devices. This includes the packaging and integration of all system and application components.
- The team must understand and support the operation of the laptops both in the office and out of the office, including all the communications to support access anywhere and anytime.
- Provide a second and third line support function for issues concerning the common workstation & Citrix server-operating system environment and all end user devices, including integration issues between the various software components.
- The team will periodically review the current status of end user devices and in conjunction with the Global Architecture Team define a rolling 12-month development roadmap.
- The team will follow all ITIL processes in line with requirements, particularly change and release management.
- Provide high quality systems management and device management documentation.
Work with International Systems Management personnel to develop communities of common practices and knowledge sharing.
- Work in close co-operation with Global IT to ensure seamless development and deployment of new systems technologies and associated management and monitoring tools.
- The team should be able to efficiently distribute the core image and subsequent updates to the user population globally. This must be performed to support the release management process and establish a workstation configuration management.
- Providing 3rd line support for the timely resolution of incidents and problems.
- Executing regular maintenance and monitoring tasks.
- End-to-end ownership of incidents, ensuring accurate and timely updates are accountable for the management and maintenance of systems and services, by ensuring they are fit for purpose and available at all required times. This includes maintaining and optimising applications and infrastructure and bringing new releases into production.
Technical Skills: Maintain desktop & Citrix applications, including:
- Release and configuration management
- Design, development, and maintenance of application packages using Wise Package Studio & Installshield
- Manage application conflicts and familiar with the Conflict Database
- Creation of distribution packages and deployment utilising SCCM
- Visual Basic scripting skills
- Strong Ice Validation Skillset
- Microsoft Office Suite in an Enterprise environment
- SCCM desktop system management and distribution
- WISE Package Studio and scripting skills
- Active Directory and Group Policies
Knowledge: - Technical expert within this discipline and excellent all-round technologist.
- Detailed practical knowledge of the operation and maintenance of IT infrastructure and services within a Microsoft technology environment.
