WPR has been tasked with recruiting a Senior Commercial / Contracts Manager for our client, a leading utilities company seeking to employ a high calibre individual to oversee the commercial /contractual function within their business.

Our client specialises in the design, supply, installation, commissioning and project management of electrical infrastructures for electricity utility companies and renewable energy developers throughout the UK and Ireland. They require an experienced individual for this key position. The appointment will initially be on the basis of a six month fixed term contract; however this position may become permanent.

The Role

Based in their impressive offices in Belfast, the Contracts Manager will have responsibility for all aspects of commercial contract management.

Specific responsibilities will include:

• Working closely with the commercial team to ensure that all contractual requirements and potential liabilities are included in tender submissions.
• Acting as a specialist advisor in respect of any contractual issues which may arise during the project delivery phase.
• Negotiating variation claims.
• Ensuring revenue from contracts are maximised.
• Establishing and managing contractual terms and conditions with sub contractors. 
• Carry out detailed contract reviews.

It is a requirement of the jobholder to contribute to the continuous development of the role to reflect changing business needs and this position will require flexibility, adaptability and determination to achieve the demanding performance objectives required to ensure all KPIs are attained.

Individual

It is essential that you are a commercially focused self-starter with the enthusiasm, motivation and initiative to succeed in this role and possess:

• A proven track record of operating as a Contracts Manager within a commercially orientated construction, quantity surveying, or utility contracting company within the last five years.         
• An in depth knowledge of various conditions of contract.
• An ability to work closely and effectively with the client senior management, commercial and project delivery teams to ensure optimum profit is derived from contracts.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills combined with the analytical and problem solving skills to reach realistic workable solutions.
• The flexibility and adaptability to succeed within a demanding business.
• Access to a means of transport which will enable the jobholder to meet the requirements of the role, with the flexibility to travel throughout the UK and Ireland when required.
• IT literate with the ability to use and develop these skills to the full.

Ideally you should also possess

• A third level qualification in construction, quantity surveying, engineering or other relevant discipline with membership of a relevant professional body.

The salary and benefits package associated with this position will be on a personal contract basis and will be commensurate with a position at this level.
